PAST EVENTS

DRESS FOR SUCCESS
fall 2023
The Beauty Birds held our our first training event with Dress for Success Philadelphia for the Professional Women's Group. We brought in 5 Beauty Bird artists to host a work-friendly makeup demonstration, answer specific makeup questions, and assist with makeup application. The ladies were sent home with lots of makeup and skincare so that they could continue the pampering process on their own time.

THE U SCHOOL
Spring 2023
We were able to provide about 30 high schoolers at the U School in Philadelphia with free products and beauty services. The event was about empowerment. We also gave the students compact mirrors with random student names. They wrote compliments on these mirrors and in the end took the mirror with their name home. They were able to see the beauty that other people see in them. For example, one girl lit up when she opened her mirror that said “You have nice skin”. Compliments like this one helped the students realize the beauty that their peers saw in them.  We inspired the students to feel beautiful and take home a tangible compliment to see the beauty others see in them as well. Our members were overjoyed to connect with older students while still serving as role model figures during our spring event.

THOMAS MIFFLIN SCHOOL
fall 2022

Beauty Birds is has almost doubled in size since Spring 2022. We were able to bring 19 members and service over 20 kids during our Fall 2022 Event at Thomas Mifflin School.

The seventh and eighth graders came for makeup, nails, and skincare. Everyone was sent home with a Maybelline Lifter Gloss, Maybelline a SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick, and a cleanser + moisturizer duo from Curology (thank you to The Youth Marketing Connection and Curology). The kids were beyond grateful and a joy to work with! Our members lit up while interacting with the kids!

Finally, this event we provided a photo area where kids could capture their finished makeup looks. We plan on hosting 1-2 events during Spring 2023.

THOMAS MIFFLIN SCHOOL FLAGSHIP EVENT

Spring 2022

The Beauty Birds hosted our first event on April 22nd at Thomas Mifflin School, for the eighth grade class. Our event was made possible by our benefactors including Neiman Marcus at King of Prussia, The Youth Marketing connection, Priia Cosmetics, local makeup artist Claudine Attoh-Okine(who assisted our members with makeup training), and self funding/donations from Temple University parents. The purpose of the event was to inspire the adolescents to develop a positive relationship with beauty, while training our members to work with clients. It also gave us a chance to troubleshoot for future events. The event had three stations, a makeover station, skincare station, and nail station. Members were paired with their 8th grade clients. They treated them to beauty experiences while bonding. The kids were sent home with skincare starter kits, acne aid information (which the boys requested), and one girl won a makeup starter kit in a raffle.

The most memorable part was that the boys were just as excited as the girls. The boys were able to get their skincare and nails taken care of. It was heartwarming that the boys felt comfortable enough to get these services done in front of their peers. The event at Thomas Mifflin School showed the boys and girls that beauty is a universal mindset and they are very much deserving of it.

FASHION AND BEAUTY PROFESSIONAL FAIR

spring 2025

On March 21, 2025, Beauty Birds proudly partnered with Women in Business and Fashion & Business Club to host our Beauty & Professional Fair, creating a space where students could explore careers at the intersection of fashion, beauty, and business.

Immediately following the fashion show, attendees had the opportunity to network with hiring managers from notable brands including Burlington, Snipes, Spencer’s | Spirit, Nordstrom, URBN, and Doll 10.

The more intimate scale of the fair made the experience approachable and encouraged meaningful conversations between students and professionals.

Building on the success of previous years, the fair continues to evolve. In 2024, LVMH attended with Dior, hosting a makeup demonstration that offered attendees a firsthand look into luxury beauty. Last year’s fair further expanded opportunities for professional insight, networking, and career exploration.

We are proud to create spaces that connect students with industry leaders and empower them to confidently step into their professional futures.

KENSINGTON HEALTH AND SCIENCES ACADEMY

fall 2025

Beauty Birds hosted an event in Fall 2025 at Kensington Health and Sciences Academy that featured three interactive stations focused on makeup, nails, and skincare. Temple University students led each station, empowering high school students by sharing hands-on beauty education and insights into the intersection of beauty and professional development.

During the event, students received free makeup packages containing a variety of cosmetic products. The program concluded with a raffle basket giveaway for one lucky student, followed by a presentation highlighting different career pathways within the beauty industry. This event aimed to inspire confidence, creativity, and awareness of future opportunities in beauty and education.
