ABOUT US
Makeovers and cosmetics are expensive, so many adults and teenagers are unable to access these commodities. Acquainting oneself with cosmetics as a preteen is a milestone experience. Lack of access to makeup and skincare can make one feel isolated from their peers. Since beauty products are not seen as a necessity, it is easy to forget that some individuals struggle to access the cosmetics that an average person uses daily to boost their self-esteem. The purpose of this organization is to provide free makeovers and nail or skin care services to individuals and aid club members in developing beauty and client-facing skills that they can bring into the professional world. Ideally, Beauty Bird clients will be students from low-income areas who need makeup for school pictures or events.  In the future, we hope to expand to homeless shelters and safe houses.

We will provide makeovers, skincare, and basic manicures to students throughout the city of Philadelphia. We empower individuals, give back to the community, and have fun with beauty products. We provide basic training for club members to expand their beauty expertise. This includes training on proper cosmetic sanitation; basic makeup looks and techniques; basic manicure techniques; and training on client interaction.  We hope to empower our members to want to give back to the community surrounding North Philadelphia and to develop new beauty and communication skills.

OUR PURPOSE

Providing the choice to be pampered is what the Beauty Birds intend to do. We hope to provide access to beauty experiences that uplift one’s spirit. We eliminate the superficial stigma around beauty products. Ultimately beauty experiences are about pampering oneself through self maintenance or the art of makeup.

We use beauty products a tool to empower our clients, but they are shown their true worth by the way we serve them. Ultimately beauty products expire, feelings and memories do not. The bird mascot is intended to relate us to the Cinderella's helpers.

ABOUT OUR BENEFACTORS

The Beauty Birds are currently in a cooperative effort with; The Youth Marketing Connection, an organization that works with college students in order to promote various brands including Sephora, NYX, and Maybelline; Neiman Marcus, a chain of luxury department stores that carries beauty brands such as Dior and Giorgio Armani; and Priia Cosmetics, a cosmetics line specifically made for acne prone skin.
